A work of art should be harmonious in its entirety; for superfluous details would, in the mind of the beholder, encroach upon the essential elements’. (Matisse 1908).

If art is a record of activity, what activity do we undertake?

We share collectively, by way of practice, a core sense of interrogation; to look once again and again and then again, but this time more closely, at our relationship with things. To better understand our relationships with these things. To critically engage with the ‘essential elements’ of these things and by binding curiosity with collaboration find ways of expression.

Here, at SVA, we change the parameters of activity from work to dialogue. We hope you find this dialogue interesting.
