Fri 13th 10am-3pm, 6-8pm Finissage

Sat 14th Feb 10am-3pm

Susan Kester focuses primarily on drawing and painting found objects collected over the years. Through close observation and careful juxtaposition, she plays with the tensions created between these objects, enjoying the humour and mischief that happens when their personalities are revealed.

Whilst in residence at the SVA, she will be working on large scale drawings of driftwood that she has been collecting on regular visits to the south coast of Devon. Working in the gallery space over two weeks, the residency will provide an opportunity to complete, in a larger space, a body of work already started at home. The gallery will be open for drop ins, feedback, and casual discussions of the art and making process throughout the residency, culminating in a finissage on the penultimate night.
