There is something about this time, the change between day and night as the sun sets that is invigorating yet peaceful. The sky is alive with colour from serene and dusky to fiery and explosive, a spectacular heralding of the night.
This selection of paintings exhibited at the S.V.A have been painted over the course of five years. Sunsets are a recurring motif in my practice as an artist and capturing this transitory moment inspires a feeling of euphoria .
I grew up in Stroud and moved back after completing a MA at the Royal College of Art. I started my career as an illustrator and gradually leant into painting landscapes inspired by the countryside around Stroud. I work in my studio on large and small scale oil paintings using vivid colours and patterns, referring to sketches and inspiration gathered whilst out walking.
