DJ and compiler Liam Large is hosting a series of one-off parties in conjunction with Jazz Stroud, focused on bringing some of the most renowned and distinguished all-vinyl selectors to the town, often for the first time.
For this party he will be joining with DJ Boom Operator from La Bomba Bristol, playing records from the Americas, the Caribbean, Africa and beyond.
Globe travelling crate-digger, Liam Large! Compiler is the legendary Jazzman Records and founder of Jukebox Jam label/club night. Liam has also (for the last 10 years!) ran East London's much-beloved Tropical Yard club. Focusing broadly on Afro-Latin sounds, all played from original vinyl, expect to hear intense, frenetic and hypnotic rhythms from the Americas, the Caribbean, Africa and beyond.
As founder of the influential Jukebox Jam R&B club night, Liam has also worked for Jazzman Records since the early 2000s contributing to many compilations and re-releases, plus taking regular trips to the US in search of old records alongside Jazzman founder Gerald Short.
He DJs regularly in London and around Europe playing across the spectrum of vintage black music – soul, funk, R&B, blues, jazz, reggae, hip hop, Latin, African, Caribbean and more.
