Young Artist Opportunities at SVA
“I first started engaging with SVA when I was in my mid-teens, it has become one of the most important aspects of my life. SVA gave me confidence and space to explore my creative ambitions. Through music and art SVA provided opportunities for me to display my work and that of my peers.
One of the most inspiring things I found at SVA was it allowed me to engage with a diverse group of people, being able to meet artists of different ages and career points pushed me to pursue my own work further.
SVA provided a space free from judgement and hierarchy between different people which allowed a genuine form of collaboration and discussion, whether that took the form of a passing conversation or a large-scale event. The people working within and around SVA were always willing to give young people a chance to explore, share and develop their interests, which was incredibly valuable.
It was only when I moved away from Stroud to go to university, I realised how rare a space like this was and how valuable a space like SVA is in the development of a young artist.”
