Jazz Stroud Sunday : Fabled / The Breath / Teotima

  • The Goods Shed Station Approach Stroud, GL5 3AP United Kingdom (map)

3pm Fabled

Formed in 2014, Fabled is the brainchild of saxophonist/clarinettist, Sam Rapley. This is richly atmospheric and expressive music which draws from Rapley and his fellow musicians shared love of jazz ensembles, literature, classical musicians, world music, modern composition and indie-folk. Taking inspiration from the likes of Mammal Hands, Gogo Penguin, Polar Bear and Tigran Hamasyan whilst undertones of Debussy, Ravel, Peter Broderick and Lau can also be heard throughout.

8-11pm The Breath

The Breath is guitarist Stuart McCallum and singer Ríoghnach Connolly. Based in Manchester, their unique take on alt-folk journeys from lush, beguiling storytelling to uplifting, punch-the-air anthems. At its heart is Rioghnach’ s deeply soulful, utterly engaging, stop-you-in-your-tracks voice alongside Stuart’s understated brilliance and their exquisitely crafted, personal songs.

8-11pm Teotima

Teotima play a fruity concoction of West African, Brasillian and Cuban grooves, captivating jazz harmony, engaging interactive improvisation and songwriting with a deep narrative pull.

8pm Albino Tarantino at the Ale House

Stroud based Latin Blues band. Imagine a night out with Tom Waits and Ry Cooder to see Santana playing at The Buena Vista Social Club.
