A brand-new immersive music experience: the premiere playback of ‘Flow' — a groundbreaking 360° composition by Adrian Utley (Portishead) — followed by a surround-sound live performance from Malian star Rokia Koné. This unique evening brings cutting-edge immersive sound technology out of the studio and into a live space via The Good Shed’s d&b Soundscape system, inviting audiences to be fully enveloped by music.
The evening will begin with ‘Flow' — a 30-minute journey in sound: an orchestra of guitars, voices, four double basses, electronic oscillators, and field recordings from Iceland. Shifting from lush ambient swells to visceral rock intensity, Flow places the listener ‘inside the music’. Created, and introduced on the night, by Adrian Utley, the guitarist and sonic architect of Portishead, and produced with Grammy Award-winning engineer Hans-Martin Buff, the piece pushes the boundaries of immersive composition. It was recorded at the world-renowned Real World Studios in Box, Wiltshire.
“I think creating this project Flow has changed how I feel about making music.” – Adrian Utley
Following the playback, the evening shifts into a live performance from Rokia Koné, one of Mali’s most compelling voices. Known as ‘the Rose of Bamako’, Koné’s griot-infused vocals soar above Mande guitar grooves and traditional percussion, her performances spanning joy, fury, despair and tenderness. Her debut album BAMANAN (produced by Jacknife Lee – U2, R.E.M., Taylor Swift) earned global acclaim, two All Africa Music Award nominations, and The New York Times ‘Critic’s Pick’. With the immersive d&b Soundscape, her electrifying live presence will be experienced as never before.
