Joicey collective at WOMAD

Neston Park, Wiltshire
23-26 july

Joicey collective will be running a tent at WOMAD festival this year, celebrating the musical talent of young women and non-binary people. Joicey will be running beginner DJing workshops throughout the daytime, with the aim of introducing young people to the world of Djing as well as performing in the dedicated ‘Launch-Pod’ tent in the evenings. Expect funky vibes, groovy tunes and a whole lot of laughs.

Joicey is an all-female DJ collective based in stroud, focused on the inclusivity and empowerment of young women and non-binary people within the DJing community. The project aims to create a more inclusive space where people can come together to learn new skills and discover new genres of music, breathing life and diversity back into the dance floor. Joicey is closely linked to the SVA, running beginner DJ courses, showcases and club nights for members to demonstrate their new skills, however the collective spans much further than that, Joicey members often going on to book events in Bristol, Gloucester and London. The collective is entirely welcoming and incredibly excited to support a whole new group of people, nurturing confidence, empowerment, and a shared love for dance music.

Moina, who started the collective describes Joicey’s ethos as ‘It’s foremost about playfulness and sharing music we love - keeping it fun every step of the way.’
