Synthesiser chamber ensemble perform classical transcriptions, new compositions and classic horror soundtracks The Moog ensemble have been wowing audiences with their playful approach and richly textured music for years – from the Proms to the Philarmonie De Paris. For this special Halloween performance they will be reimagining John Carpenter’s iconic scores alongside Bach’s works and others
The Will Gregory Moog Ensemble first performed together in 2005 as part of the Bath Festival, recreating some of the ‘Switched on Bach’ arrangements of Wendy Carlos in the Seventies. As one half of the electronic music sensation Goldfrapp, the keyboard-player and composer Will Gregory is one of the UK’s leading advocates of using synthesizers and electronic instruments to create new sounds and reinvent old ones. The band perform a mixture of specially composed music, transcriptions of classical works, and their own versions of music from popular culture and film scores.
Will Gregory formed electronic pop group Goldfrapp in 1999 alongside bandmate Alison Goldfrapp. Together they have released seven albums, most recently 'Silver Eye' in 2017 which secured the band a ‘Best Producer’ Brit Award nomination. The band have scored a string of hits including 'Strict Machine', 'Ooh La La', 'Lovely Head' and 'A&E'. The multi-platinum selling band have been nominated for the Mercury Prize, multiple Grammy Awards and won an Ivor Novello for 'Strict Machine'.
