Seasoning Festival returns to Stroud May 29–31 for its most ambitious edition yet.
Across three days, multiple venues and a campsite just outside town, the festival brings together over 80 artists and soundsystems working across UK techno, post-dubstep, from 140 through smoky tech house into electro and diasporic bass. A programme built around connection rather than genre, uniting strands of rave that don’t often share the same space.
Stroud operates here as a node within a wider network, a point where local scenes connect outward into a broader transnational movement in club culture. What happens over the weekend is part of that circulation, sound, people and ideas moving through the same channels.
The project draws on the town’s deep rave history while reworking it into a contemporary gathering. Emerging artists share space with internationally touring DJs, local communities intersect with wider networks, and new forms take shape through proximity and exchange.
At its core is a simple principle:
rave culture is folk culture
Seasoning runs as a non-profit, supported by funding and partnerships, with a clear aim to respond to the ongoing crisis in grassroots music by keeping tickets accessible while directing resources back into the venues, artists and collectives that sustain the culture year-round.
There’s a shared ambition running through it, to create something beyond a sequence of sets. A temporary convergence where sound carries further, the dancefloor becomes a point of connection, and something collective begins to take hold.
Rather than building something separate, the festival works through existing spaces in Stroud, strengthening the infrastructure that makes nights like ours possible in the first place.
