A collection of hand woven suspended sculptures exploring the relationship between maker and waste.
Archie Taylor-Roach’s process during this project involved collecting waste materials and producing a natural dye from used coffee grounds donated by a local business. They then Ikat dyed a paper warp and wove the structures with found willow and corn.
Archie Taylor-Roach is currently studying textiles in London but grew up in Stroud. They will be showing work made during the year, including a collection of hand woven paper sculptures that explore how trees communicate through underground networks.
The relationship between the artist and their surroundings has become the focal point of their creative practice. Investigating how humans and their environment both affect each other is what drives Archie the most.
Archie Taylor-Roach’s practice is heavily material led and is how they interpret the land, exploring traditional craft processes like weaving and natural dyeing.
