Matthew will be exhibiting a series of works made intermittently over the last twenty years. Using what he refers to as a process of ‘call and response’ these small works use combinations of found materials such as discarded paper, cardboard and cellophane packaging, odd bits of fabric, plastic and rubber, to develop images that over time have formed the starting point for groups of larger works on paper and in cloth.

Throughout the duration of the exhibition the work will be subjected to ‘chance operations’, as a way to reconfigure and re-present the imagery, thereby creating new combinations, groupings and juxtapositions.
