Callum will be showing a selection of work at SVA John St Gallery as a part of “Earth Fire Iron: Alan Evans and the New Iron Age” at The Museum in the Park Stroud (6th September-2 November 2025). Callum Partridge studied silversmithing jewellery and forged metalwork at London Metropolitan University.
The purpose of the “Earth Fire Iron: Alan Evans and the New Iron Age” exhibition in the Museum in the Park goes beyond celebrating the life and work of Whiteway born Alan Evans whose innovative forged metalwork captured the spirit of a ‘renaissance’ in contemporary artist blacksmithing during the latter half of the twentieth century. Alan Evans trained as a jeweller but throughout his working life his forged work ranged in scale from small domestic items (such as spoons) to dramatic public artworks.
The values of openness, sharing ideas, mentoring young smiths, continue today. So the Museum exhibition shows the work not only of those who mentored Alan, but, with the support of cultural partners, shows todays’ makers meeting the challenges of a different society and culture. These young artists working with forged metalwork are inspiring a new iron age. Amongst the many who can be celebrated today is Callum Patridge, based in Stroud.
