Over the past few years, Jodi and Rider have been collaborating to create art that explores culture, heritage and identity. During this residency at SVA, together they will create new artworks focused on protest art, combining various creative practices such as photography, graphic design and print.

“These prints were drawn, painted and all carved outside in the garden in Ebley in the hot days. I have had a troubled time of late as my Dad died and it really threw me so to speak in many ways and I turned to print.”

Akira Roe will utilise the gallery space to create large-scale experimental paintings created with the use of paint rollers. The work will explore themes related to the deconstruction and decolonisation of our preconceived notions surrounding myths and folklore.

This is a new series of digital collage pieces created by merging photography, digital illustration, text, and watercolour  which tell the stories of Africans who jumped from the slave ships - who chose the water instead of the world of colonizers.
