Ella Clifton-Gould and Darcie Kemp, young artist residency #6

  • SVA 4 John Street Stroud, England, GL5 2HA United Kingdom (map)

Witness the sublimely surreal world of Ella Clifton-Gould and Darcie Kemp, who were artists in residence, 28th April -1st May 2021, at SVA , 4 John Street, Stroud, Gloucestershire, UK GL5 2HA.

Ella Clifton-Gould and Darcie Kemp presented an unseen, new and exciting series of performances, 'Night Time Raiders' combining Clifton-Gould's love for snails and Kemp's love for flowers. These works will be exploring performance, sound, visuals, story telling, costume, props and play. A long overdue collaboration, after admiring each other's work from afar, Ella Clifton-Gould and Darcie Kemp, two female artists originally from Stroud are currently studying art and fashion in London and Manchester.

'Doing this residency with Darcie has been such an honour, we both had so many ideas to try out and we could both sense the potential, and we were right. Everything flowed and was exciting, and out of the craziness of covid we made our own wonderful craziness. I have been filming with a green screen and roping in friends at uni to help with my snail project, but with this residency working with Darcie and bringing in the flower and garden elements it clarified what I really wanted the project to be. Which then flowed into making a physical set and performing all the things we had been dreaming of and imagining. It also gave us ideas for future projects on what we couldn't have achieved this time but maybe could next time with some planning and organization. A wonderful way of creating and making work together.'
